Kat McKim is the managing director of operations training at SchoolOps, where she manages professional development and coaching for SchoolOps’ various learning communities across the country. Kat has been working in education since 2009, first as a middle school reading and writing teacher in the Mississippi Delta. Though she is no longer a classroom teacher (she leaves that to her husband, Ben), learning and development has remained a passion for her and a focus of her work. In 2011, she came to Achievement First, where she discovered the joy of school operations–for somebody who has always loved creating a well-run system, it was love at first sight. She served as a founding director of operations at a middle school, and has since spent the last six years leading operations talent and development practices across Achievement First’s 41 schools. During this time, she also revamped and oversaw their Director in Residence program (a training program for aspiring directors of operations), training six cohorts of future ops leaders.
Kat currently lives in New York City, and in her free time she loves reading, writing, running, and showering her cat with more affection than he probably wants.
