Julia has worked in education since 2014. Originally from Colorado, she did her undergraduate degree in Anthropology at DePaul University in Chicago, IL. Following graduation she moved to Jeju Island, South Korea to teach in local schools before transitioning to international schools. She returned to Colorado in 2019 to complete her masters in Curriculum and Instruction for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Learners before working as a Multilingual Education Administrator and Instructional Coach at an Indigenous startup school in Denver. Her work at this school also included recruitment and enrollment as well as community partnership outreach. During this time she participated in a fellowship with the Native American Community Academy Inspired Schools Network that focused on leadership, mission-driven learning, and school sustainability. After getting married in 2019 Julia moved to Bellingham with her partner and their dog. In her free time she loves to read, hike, cook, and fill her home with friends and loved ones.
Anders founded SchoolOps to ensure that schools have access to high quality, role-appropriate professional learning for their operations teams. Previously, Anders served as the Founding Director of Operations for a school in Baltimore. Over his tenure there, he grew the school’s operations from scratch, ultimately serving nearly five hundred students while consistently outperforming peer schools. Finding that there was no professional learning built specifically for operations professionals, Anders traveled widely to shadow other school operations leaders, meet with mentors, and piece together resources for himself and his operations team.
Afterwards, he joined SchoolKit – an instructional professional development organization – as their Director of Operations and Innovation. Seeing first hand the transformational power of high quality professional learning in the instructional world inspired Anders to found SchoolOps and bring that same transformation to the Operations world.
Brook Wilkerson, former COO and founding member of Spokane International Academy, played a pivotal role in its establishment and ongoing success. With more than 17 years dedicated to education, Brook has been integral to the institution’s growth. Her background includes over a decade in business administration before transitioning to education. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and resides in Spokane, WA with her husband, daughter, and their dog, Pepsi.
Kat McKim is the managing director of operations training at SchoolOps, where she manages professional development and coaching for SchoolOps’ various learning communities across the country.
Kat has been working in education since 2009, first as a middle school reading and writing teacher in the Mississippi Delta. Though she is no longer a classroom teacher (she leaves that to her husband, Ben), learning and development has remained a passion for her and a focus of her work.
In 2011, she came to Achievement First, where she discovered the joy of school operations–for somebody who has always loved creating a well-run system, it was love at first sight. She served as a founding director of operations at a middle school, and has since spent the last six years leading operations talent and development practices across Achievement First’s 41 schools.
During this time, she also revamped and oversaw their Director in Residence program (a training program for aspiring directors of operations), training six cohorts of future ops leaders.
Kat currently lives in New York City, and in her free time she loves reading, writing, running, and showering her cat with more affection than he probably wants.
