Leader Fellowship

Accelerate your growth with yearlong professional development and personalized one-on-one coaching.
Whether you’re a current operations leader looking to deepen your skillset or an aspiring operations leader preparing for the next step in your career, the Virtual Operations Leader Fellowship will provide you with comprehensive professional development and coaching designed specifically for school operations professionals.

The Virtual Operations Leader Fellowship includes:

  • Unlimited access to all virtual public sessions in the 26-27 school year (fellows can work with their coach to determine which sessions they want to attend based on their development needs)
  • 14 hourlong 1-1 coaching sessions over the course of the school year (fellows are
assigned a main coach but also have access to SchoolOps network of expert
coaches for coaching in specific workstream such as food service, transportation,
    facilities, etc.)
  • In addition to the coaching above, each fellow will engage in a two-hour fellowship kickoff session. During this session, they will begin drafting an Individualized
Learning Plan using SchoolOps’ Operations Role Competencies document.
  • Fellows will reflect on their development and update this plan with their coach throughout the fellowship.
  • With the support of their coach, each fellow will produce a Capstone project–a yearlong project that stretches their leadership and improves work at their school.
  • With the support of their coach, each fellow will engage in a 360 survey process to
gather and reflect on holistic feedback from their manager and colleagues and incorporate that feedback into their Individualized Learning Plan.

Participant Experiences

Hear directly from school operations leaders who transformed their systems during our yearlong fellowship.

[I loved] the fellowship format. This is the best run, best planned, and most helpful PD I have encountered in 15 years in education.

Amanda Woods

Director of Operations, Academy of Arts and Knowledge.

This was a very beneficial experience…The information and systems were spot on and really helped me…work through issues facing my school as well as obstacles that I needed to overcome. It has equipped me with resources and knowledge that I will continue to use and refer back to moving forward in my role.

Aspen Hernandez

Director of Operations, Prospect Academy

Fellowship Highlight: Capstone Projects

Capstone projects are an opportunity for fellows to take on high-impact work that pushes their leadership development and strengthens operations at their schools. Fellows identify an operational challenge and design a project in response: For example, they might design a new system, make a large-scale process improvement, lead a new initiative or workstream, etc. These projects are practical, ambitious, and deeply connected to fellows’ day-to-day work, allowing them to apply their learning while creating tangible impact for students, staff, and families.

Past Capstone Project Examples

Nevada Operations Leader Fellowship

a project that saved the school approximately $90,000. In addition to creating significant financial impact for her school, the project also showcased her skills in people leadership, change management, and systems thinking, and as a result, she was promoted into a new role.

Colorado Operations Leader Fellowship
For her Capstone project in the Colorado Operations Leader Fellowship, one fellow designed and implemented a structured salary schedule for her school focused on transparency, consistency, and long-term sustainability. Drawing on staff feedback and aligning the work to the school’s budget planning process, she created a clearer and more predictable compensation system. The project strengthened both school systems and staff trust while also deepening the fellow’s project management and operational leadership skills.
